Topics
Team building is a good idea, especially with a multi age group.

It’s important for the adults to engage fully from the start, sharing and encouraging ideas to build a sense of camaraderie.
Tasks
There can be a lot of downtime for the rest of the group that make up the obstacles.

Timing
Consider giving kids time limits for completing the obstacle course.

Consider having more than one participant complete the obstacle course at once.
Tools
We incorporated chairs and tables into the design of the obstacle course which helped set parameters for space.
Topics
Learning about the parts of the kit helps

Video on electricity was not entertaining, kids already knew basics

Create a few sample images with intentional mistakes for them to spot and explain.
Tasks
Making poster helped us get familiar with all the pieces in the kit

Giving the kids a task where they have to explore or explain the kit to someone else is helpful in getting them to go through the box and really look at everything they will get to work with.
Timing
One group needed more time to draw their poster and discuss parts

One group finished more quickly, they made their poster simultaneously

Make sure kids know that they need to program their circuits before snapping them apart.

Tools
We need fresh markers, the ones we had were drying out

Big tipped markers were tough for drawing, and left it difficult to make fine details or even draw small shapes.
Topics
Review of conductive pathways would help

Step by step directions will help in planning of a first time project the book did not have that

Kids should have an initial session where they learn to sew the circuits on a simple square of felt
Tasks
Most kids needed help with knots and measuring thread

Most kids seemed to help each other with knowledge gaps and share design ideas for making pins
Timing
It takes a long time to plan an original project, for a first time everyone should do the same exact design
Separate sessions for circuit sewing and design/decorating
Tools
Hot glue guns will help with adding decoration and even getting snap pieces in place before sewing

Have alligator clips available for kids to see their lights when planning
Topics
Using various kinds of parts such as buzzers, switches, or buttons with LED lights would make kids more engaging

Doing more activities with LilyPad would make kids enjoy the session
Tasks
Many kids enjoyed all the activities, but they needed help for doing each step because there were too many words in both documents and software
Timing
Each activity took a long time because kids wanted to see how LED lights change

One group needed extra time for practicing more with the same exercise
Tools
Checking the version of the software for Lilypad everytime will be helpful
